Fransesco Bontempi (aka Lee Marrow aka Checco), Olga De Souza, Jenny Bersola and Sandra Chambers

Corona is a project created by producer Francesco Bontempi. He writes and arranges the group's songs. The first song "The rhythm of the night" was released in December 1993 on the Dwa label (Italy). The song was released in every major country in the world including the USA. A few weeks later the song reached #1 in Italy and kept the position for 13 consecutive weeks. At Midem 1994 it was the most successful project.
The original version of "The Rhythm Of The Night" was recorded at the "Pink Studio" in Reggio Emilia, and was mixed at the "Kristal Studio" in Massa by Francesco Alberti. The song was released all over the world and climbed charts everywhere. In England it was released by the multinational Warner Music and reached #2 in the official sales charts (more than 400.000 copies sold, "Gold Record" status). Finally the song reached america where it became #11 in the official sales charts in the USA, and #1 in canada. It was awarded more than 15 gold and platinum records throughout the world, and proved itself the most loved and danced song of 1994. Some months passed before the release of the new single, because in countries such as Japan, the USA and Great Britain, "The rhythm of the night" was still in great demand.
It wasn't until the beginning of March 1995 that "Baby baby" (a cover of JOY & JOYCE's "Babe, babe" track, 1991) had its full world-wide release. As in "The rhythm of the night", this new song had an easy chorus to memorize and a captivating european rhythm. April 1995 was blessed with the long awaited album released (recorded in Italy, at Casablanca Recordings) by Corona with the title "The rhythm of the night" with melodic and happy songs. In a short time, "Baby Baby" whizzed up the charts making it another #1, as was to be expected. Once again Corona entered the usa charts and went on tour to promote her album.
July 1995 gave us "Try me out" (cover of Lee Marrow), new entry at #2 in Italy and #14 in UK. This song reached the top 5 around most of the world.
With November 1995 the latest single of the first album arrived. The song was remixed in a 70's disco style. In summer 1996 corona was invited to present "Festivalbar" (the major italian TV show in summer). is this the beginning of a new career in television.
After that the megamix was released, Francesco Bontempi's contract with DWA ended. We could have thought that it was the end of the project, but in 1997 Corona was back with "The power of love" and which did not become a very big hit. The next step was the album "Walking on music" and the single with the same name. The last single was released in March 1999 and is called "Magic touch".
In 2000, we hear from Corona again. The project is back with a new disco/dance single called "Good love". John O'Flynn, among others took part to the realization of the single. The third album was released in June 2001. Entitled "Me and you", it contains absolutely no eurodance. The album was only released in Brazil and had very little success over there. The new name will be Corona X.
In 2002, Corona's hit "The rhythm of the night" was covered by Alex Christensen (U96) under the name of "Alex C featuring Yasmin K", and by the project Clueless.
A rare track was released by DWA under the name of Corona. It is entitled "Yo tengo un novio en Hawai, composed by Lee Marrow and Giorgio Spagna and among other.
End of 2005, after the Winter Music Conference in Miami and the encounter between one of the American managers of Olga with the team of producers Paolo Dughero and Francesco Conte (Shake Records), it was decided that it was time for her to be back on the charts with a pop-rock piece "Back in time".

LEE MARROW
Francesco Bontempi, more well-known as Lee Marrow or 'Checco' to his friends, created and produced the Corona project. He was born in Marina Di Carrara on 23 July 1957. Already well-known following big hits such as "Bauhaus" by CAPPELLA, "Shangai", "To go crazy" and "Do you want me" by himself, he wrote and arranged CORONA’s songs.

OLGA DE SOUZA
Olga De Souza, the "play-back" singer, was born in Rio De Janeiro on july 16, 1968. Her previous job was not at all artistic, seeing that she worked for a bank in Rio, the "Caixa Economica Federal". She came to Italy a few years ago, after her close friend, football legend Pele', told her about beautiful Italy... she now lives in Rome. In fact, when Olga came to Italy, she thought it would be the perfect opportunity for her to start a musical career. Then she met Francesco. Shortly after their first meeting, Olga and Francesco started a new project called Corona.

JENNY BERSOLA
Jenny was born on the 20th of July 1972 in Catania. Her father comes from Senegal and her mother comes from Sicily. She studied music during one year with Tiziana Ghiglioni, and was able to spend some time at the Berkley University. Her carreer bagan a the age of 15. She is the real voice of Corona for "The rhythm of the night" and JK, but also for Playahitty ("The summer is magic", "1-2-3!") and a few other X-Energy projects. She was also involved in the Italian Jazz Band Funky Company as a singer, writer and producer between 1993 and 1997. She also worked with Lisa Hunt, Arthur Miles,Gordon Lyon, Katie Kissoon, Zucchero and much more...
Under the name of Jenny B, she released many singles as a solo singer and even won the San Remo award in 2000.

SANDRA (SANDY) CHAMBERS
On a professional level, her career began with her collaboration with the DWA Recording Company, having worked as a backing vocalist with DOUBLE YOU on their first two albums: "We all need love" (1992) and "The blue album" (1993). She later went on to join the dance project NETZWERK, ("Send me an angel"). She also sung as JHAVA ("Don't tell me lies"), TUTTIFRUTTI ("Superboy" duet with Alexia). She was CORONA's real voice (except for "The rhythm of the night") and that she also contributed to JK (her voice can be heard on "My radio"). In 2003, she sang on "Illusion", Benny Benassi's hit and some other song of him.
