Maurizio D'Ambosio aka Mephisto was born in Verbania (Italy) on november 13th 1963. He started his career as DJ on the beginning of 1980. Due to his ever lasting passion for music he starts to study self-thought all the recording studios innovations of that time like samplers, synthesizer, effect, midi, etc...
Since 1990 to 1992, he practises that innovations in a disco club (Kursaal-Verbana) and it is the beginning of his success in fact in the same period he releases, between the disco and the little recording studio, the maxi single "Euphemia" (Sept 1991). This mix is one of the most pais records in discotheques but notwithstanding 10.000 copies sell only in Italy the network doesn't take it in consideration.
Only on December 1992 releasing "State on mind" (played, mixed and produced by Maurizio in a little studio), he becomes to be famous and appreciated.
In February 1993, it is number 1 in Italy on all italian dance charts and on March 1993, it's the maxi single most sell in Italy. So he starts a tour between the biggest italian discotheques. The show is mix of samplers, expander and high quick mix with records, besides, it is the first time a DJ makes a live show together with a singer as vocalist.
On October 1993 it follows "Keep on" and the remix of Corona's "Rhythm of the night".
On July 1994, Mephisto produces "You got me burning" with Shunza (She sang on most the Mephisto's tracks. She was born in China in 1973. After 1997, she led a fine solo career in Asia. ) which goes in the top20 charts of almost all Europe.
On December 1994, Mephisto climbes another steop on this DJ career, in fact a big discotheque in Lugano (CH) offers him a one year contract not only as resident on Saturday but also as artistic director. In same year period, Mephisto produced "My love" (April 1995) and "Back in time" (July 1995) which are one equal to previous productions, probably beacuse of pressure of his new job, anyway there is a request of tendancy versions by disco clubs.
At the beginning of 1996, Mephisto opens a new recording studio and on March 1996, he creates his first label "Sisma Records". And the first productions on this label is "Voices". At the moment, Mephisto is also concerned with managing of the discotheque "Il Tokyo" in Cannobio (Italy). Mephisto attests once more time to be a sharp observer of sound evolution, by a great knowledge of musical taste by the people of the disco world.
Thanks to his ambition and to this musical culture improved over the last few years, he succeeds to join technology evolution to console making up, each time a different kind of show with a new kind of sequences connected to other expander. In short, when Mephisto is at the counsel, there is a mixed of live performance and DJ.
